The Environment is quite different; looking back at giant mount gets the impression that it has separated two different lands. No large Tall Mountain, but hillocks covered with tea. Hatton is well known for its Ceylon tea plantations. It is situated approximately 83 kilometers southeast of Colombo and 44km south of Kandy and situated at an elevation of 1,217m above sea level. Hatton enjoys a pleasant climate and is the gateway to many tourist attractions.
It was gazette as a religious zone by the Government of Sri Lanka in 2008 for its many ancient religious places. The vast expanses of tea plantations and the lush green scenery are the trump cards of this pretty location. From plantation trails to cycling expeditions and trekking there is a range of exciting activities on offer for the tourists.
